Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Telehandler Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will operate a telescopic forklift—commonly known as a telehandler—to move, lift, and position materials across various job sites. Your expertise will ensure the safe, efficient handling of heavy loads, supporting project timelines and maintaining high safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while honing your mechanical knowledge and operational skills. Underslung loads would be beneficial
Responsibilities
- Safely operate the telehandler to lift, move, and place materials at designated locations on the construction site
- Conduct routine inspections of the telehandler before and after shifts to ensure optimal functioning and safety compliance
- Assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks using appropriate driving techniques and safety procedures
- Coordinate with site supervisors and team members to understand material handling needs and execute tasks efficiently
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance activities
- Support other machinery operations such as excavators when required, demonstrating versatility on-site
- Follow all safety protocols, including wearing PPE and adhering to site-specific safety guidelines at all times
Experience
- Proven experience operating a telehandler or similar heavy equipment in a construction or industrial environment
- Valid commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements for operating heavy machinery
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues and perform basic maintenance checks
- Familiarity with excavator operation is a plus, demonstrating adaptability across different equipment types
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and material handling practices
