Today Leading Edge operates a 24/5 multi-production facility across 10 presses with High Definition and Decoration capabilities for labels, flexible films, shrink sleeves, multi construction laminates, board products and promotional booklets & tags.
We are recruiting for a new Interim Procurement Manager to join our Head Office team based out of office in Gravesend.
About our requirement
The last 12 months has seen a challenging environment for the sourcing of all raw materials and services that the company buys. Availability of certain products has been challenging and lead times have increased. The cost prices have also increased in some areas. The purpose of this role is to re-assess the supply situation, making sure the company is buying from the best overall suppliers at competitive prices. The process will involve preparing tenders and benchmarking both existing and potential new suppliers, deciding on future purchasing strategy and awarding contracts to the successful suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysing current purchasing specifications, volumes and spend to prepare tender documents for each purchasing category.
- Researching potentially new suppliers and assessing their capability to supply
- Working with the internal teams to qualify and test potential new suppliers products
- Responsible for managing tender processes
- Reviewing existing supplier performance and identifying opportunities with the existing suppliers to make the supply process more efficient.
- Preparation and awarding of contracts for future purchases.
Qualifications :
· Minimum 5 years in a Purchasing/Supply Chain role
· You will be capable of managing high complexity, analysing large volumes of data to be able to summarise cost savings and compare quotations and proposals from different suppliers
· Previous experience of print and packaging would be preferred
· Strong understanding of the market conditions and trends
· Working knowledge of negotiation techniques in the industry
· Positive and professional demeanor
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Good team player
