S.R. Davis Ltd is a family-run poultry wholesaler in Barry. We deliver fresh chicken daily to around 250 butchers, restaurants, takeaways and kebab shops across South Wales. We're taking on drivers.
What the day looks like
- Start at our Barry depot. Van check, load, invoices and run sheet, then out
- Long wheelbase refrigerated Transit — your normal car licence is all you need, no HGV or CPC required
- Roughly 15 to 20 drops a day across a set area: Cardiff, Newport, the Vale, Barry, the valleys or west toward Swansea
- Up to 1300kg of loaded product, so it's a genuinely physical job — sack truck provided, but there's real lifting
- Collecting cash from some customers and counting it in at the end of the day
- Temperature checks at each drop and proof of delivery through an app on your phone
- Monday to Friday, 08:00-10:00 start, typically done within 6-8 hours
Why people stay
- It's not drop-and-run. 15 to 20 drops, not 50. Our customers spend wholesale money with us and we deliver properly — that means you're not sprinting all day
- You're trusted. We hold keys for a number of shops. Drivers let themselves in, put the stock away and lock up. That's the level of trust we work at
- Van home. Full-time drivers can take the van home for commuting if working full time, so you're not paying to get to work
- Proper training. You'll ride out with an experienced driver before you go solo, and you get a full written guide to the job. We don't throw people in
Pay and package
- £13.45 to £15.00 an hour depending on experience — £31,473 to £35,100 a year at [45] hours
- Overtime paid on top
- 28 days paid holiday including bank holidays

- Permanent employed contract. Not agency, not self-employed, not zero hours
What we need from you
- Full UK driving licence held at least 2 years, no more than 6 points, and insurable on our vans
- Fit enough for the lifting and happy with an early start
- Reliable and presentable — to our customers, you are S.R. Davis
- Multidrop experience is a big help but we'll train the right person
Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
