Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and organised Shop Assistant to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with deliveries,shelving serving customers , and ensuring the smooth operation of the shop. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where communication skills and organisational abilities are highly valued. Fluency in multiple English is preferred to better serve. The Shop Assistant will play a key part in creating a welcoming atmosphere and supporting sales through effective upselling techniques.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries using excellent communication skills.
- Support merchandising activities by arranging products attractively and maintaining stock levels.
- Process transactions efficiently.
- Upsell products where appropriate to maximise sales opportunities.
- Keep the shop tidy, organised, and well-stocked throughout the day.
- Assist in managing inventory and completing basic stock counts.
- Provide information about products in both English and Spanish to cater to diverse customers.
- Manage time effectively to ensure all duties are completed within scheduled shifts.
- Support team members with additional tasks as required to ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Able to work on weekends
Qualifications
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish or other languages is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in merchandising or retail sales is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock management.
- Good time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently throughout shifts.
- Professional phone etiquette when dealing with customer calls.
- Ability to upsell products naturally and confidently to enhance sales performance.
- Organised with a keen eye for detail and a friendly, approachable manner. This role offers an engaging environment for individuals eager to develop their retail skills while delivering exceptional customer service in a multicultural setting.

Pay: £12.71 per hour

- Convinence store /Super market: 1 year (required)
- Convenience store/ premier /Londis/co op/ one stop: 1 year (preferred)
