The Opportunity:
We're looking for a motivated and customer-focused Trade Counter Operative to become a key member of our team. This is a varied, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll be responsible for helping customers find the right equipment, coordinating hires from enquiry through to collection and working closely with our transport, workshop and sales teams to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

Requirements:
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience in the plant sector.
- Experience with hire software (Syrinx) preferred.
- Good team management skills and/or experience.
- Great customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Customer Enquiries & Hire Management
- Handle incoming enquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing accurate information on equipment hire.
- Process hire and rehire agreements efficiently, ensuring all documentation is complete.
- Confirm on-hire and off-hire dates with customers and drivers.
- Provide expert advice to customers on the best hire solutions for their needs.
2. Sales & Customer Service
- Build strong relationships with trade and construction customers.
- Upsell consumables and accessories to complement hire equipment.
- Handle customer complaints and issues, resolving them professionally and efficiently.
3. Hire Coordination & Logistics
- Work closely with the Transport Manager to schedule deliveries and collections.
- Ensure equipment is available and allocated correctly to meet customer requirements.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, engineers, and depot staff to ensure smooth operations.
4. Stock Control & Equipment Management
- Monitor and maintain hire equipment availability.
- Assist in ensuring all equipment is well-maintained, serviced, and ready for hire.
- Process damage charges where necessary and report any issues with equipment.
5. Financial & Invoice Processing
- Process hire transactions, including generating invoices and credit notes.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of hires and rehires.
- Assist in monitoring hire revenue and contributing to sales targets.
