About Modern Glazing
Modern Glazing Ltd is a local window and door company manufacturing and installing high-quality products for homeowners, builders, developers and commercial customers.
We manufacture our own uPVC windows and doors in-house and are looking for a Window Fabricator / Trainee Window Fabricator to join our factory team.
We are open to applicants at all levels of experience.
For someone new to the industry, this is an opportunity to learn a skilled trade with full on-the-job training and develop into a fully competent Window Fabricator.
We are also keen to hear from experienced window fabricators who can bring existing manufacturing knowledge and skills to the team. The position, responsibilities and pay can be considered according to your existing experience and ability.
The Role
You will be involved in the manufacture of uPVC windows and doors within our factory.
For trainee applicants, you will work alongside experienced members of the team and be trained in the complete manufacturing process.
For experienced fabricators, we are looking for someone who can use their existing skills to become a productive member of the factory team, while learning our products, systems and manufacturing standards.
Depending on your experience, duties will include:
- Reading and understanding manufacturing paperwork, sizes and specifications.
- Identifying window and door profiles, components and hardware.
- Measuring and cutting uPVC profiles accurately.
- Installing reinforcement where required.
- Operating window manufacturing machinery and equipment.
- Welding window and door frames and sashes.
- Cleaning and finishing welded frames.
- Preparing frames and sashes for hardware.
- Fitting hinges, locking mechanisms, handles and other hardware.
- Installing glazing beads and preparing products for glazing.
- Glazing windows and doors where required.
- Carrying out adjustments and quality checks.
- Checking finished products against manufacturing paperwork.
- Identifying defects or manufacturing issues before products leave the factory.
- Preparing completed windows and doors for delivery and installation.
- Handling glass, frames and materials safely.
- Keeping work areas, machinery and the factory clean and organised.
- Helping with loading, unloading and movement of materials when required.
- Following company health and safety procedures at all times.
- Assisting other members of the factory team as required.
Trainee Applicants
No previous window fabrication experience is required.
We are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude who is practical, reliable and willing to learn.
Full training will be provided, including:
- Window and door terminology.
- uPVC profile systems.
- Window and door configurations.
- Reading manufacturing paperwork.
- Measuring and manufacturing tolerances.
- Safe use of machinery.
- Cutting and preparation.
- Reinforcement.
- Welding and corner cleaning.
- Hardware preparation and fitting.
- Glazing.
- Quality control.
- Safe manual handling.
- Factory health and safety.
The aim is to develop you into a fully competent Window Fabricator capable of manufacturing windows and doors accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Experienced Fabricators
We also welcome applications from experienced window and door fabricators.
Experience within uPVC window and door manufacturing would be particularly beneficial, although applicants from aluminium, glazing or other relevant fabrication backgrounds will also be considered.
Depending on your experience, we would be interested in skills including:
- uPVC window and door fabrication.
- Cutting and profile preparation.
- Welding and corner cleaning.
- Hardware fitting.
- Glazing.
- Reading fabrication sheets and manufacturing specifications.
- Operating fabrication machinery.
- Quality control.
- Working independently through different stages of production.
Experienced applicants do not necessarily need experience with our exact profile system, as product-specific training can be provided.
