Job Summary
We require a compassionate and energetic Activities Coordinator to plan, organise and implement engaging activities within our care home. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as an Activities Coordinator and ideally experience of working with resident's having Dementia / Alzheimer’s care. Excellent communication skills and proficient record keeping are a must. This role involves planning, organising, and facilitating a variety of recreational activities aimed at enhancing residents’ quality of life, promoting social interaction, and supporting their overall wellbeing. The Activities Coordinator will work closely with care staff to ensure activities are tailored to residents’ individual needs and interests. Pay will be above £12.76 minimum rate and will be discussed at interview. The amount will be based on the candidate's relevant experience and capability to fulfil the role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities that cater to the interests and abilities of residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Organise daily, weekly, and special events that promote socialisation, mental stimulation and physical activity.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ needs and preferences, ensuring activities are personalised accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and residents’ responses to activities for reporting purposes.
- Supervise activity assistants to ensure smooth operation of programmes.
- Promote a positive environment that fosters independence, dignity, and enjoyment for all residents.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in care homes specialising in senior care.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s support strategies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage residents effectively.
- Experienced in care giving or organising recreational activities for older adults is highly desirable.
- Compassionate nature with excellent organisational skills and creativity in programme development.
- Relevant qualifications in leisure management, activity coordination, or senior care are advantageous but not essential. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by creating enriching experiences that promote their health and happiness.
