Contemporary Dance Teacher
Location: Freedom of Dance Uxbridge Community Centre
Hours: Starting with 1hr per week, Wednesday 6:30 - 7:30pm with potential to split the class as it grows and develop a competition team.
Salary: £20 - £28ph Depending on experience

Freedom of Dance is seeking an experienced, skilled and enthusiastic Contemporary Dance Teacher to join our teaching team.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, structured and technically sound contemporary dance classes to students of mixed ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced dancers. They will create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports students’ artistic development, confidence, creativity and physical wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality contemporary dance classes for mixed levels.
- Adapt teaching methods and choreography to suit different ages, abilities and learning needs.
- Teach contemporary dance technique, movement vocabulary, improvisation and performance skills.
- Prepare students for performances, showcases and other school events where required.
- Monitor students’ progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Promote safe dance practice, including appropriate warm-ups, cool-downs and injury-prevention techniques.
- Maintain professional standards of punctuality, communication and conduct.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and members of the school’s administrative team.
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have:
- Professional training or a recognised qualification in contemporary dance, dance education or a related discipline.
- Previous experience teaching contemporary dance to students of mixed levels.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to demonstrate movement clearly.
- Excellent communication, organisation and classroom-management skills.
- A professional, reliable and student-focused approach.
- The ability to motivate students and foster an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
- An understanding of safeguarding and safe dance practice.
A current enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one, will be required. First-aid training and experience preparing students for performances would be advantageous.
