We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Solicitor to join our busy and growing Family Law team in Gloucestershire, with a particular focus on public law care proceedings.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work on complex and sensitive children law matters, representing parents, children, and other parties involved in care proceedings. You will play a key role in protecting the rights of vulnerable clients and ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and families.
You will handle your own caseload, working closely with colleagues, counsel, local authorities, and CAFCASS, while also having the opportunity to develop your advocacy skills in the Family Court.
The role will require excellent self management and leadership skills along with a keen intrest in business development.
What you will be doing

Manage a caseload of public law children matters, with a focus on care proceedings, delivering high-quality legal advice and case progression from instruction to final hearing.

Represent clients at all stages of proceedings in the Family Court, including case management hearings, interim applications, and contested final hearings.

Provide clear, empathetic, and robust advice on all aspects of child protection law, including local authority intervention and Children Act 1989 threshold issues.

Prepare and draft precise, persuasive legal documentation, including statements, position statements, and court bundles.

Conduct advocacy in the Family Court and work closely with counsel, CAFCASS, local authorities, and other professionals to progress cases effectively.

Ensure full compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements, regulatory standards, and best practice in client care and file management.
Who we are looking for

Minimum of 2 years PQE in a Family department;

Experience and knowledge of legal aid systems, specifically Care, plus Private Divorce/Finance would be advantageous.

Experience of supervision and/or willingness to supervise;

Experienced in using data management systems & the full Microsoft Office Suite;

Adaptable communicator, with ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism & courtesy;

Panel membership is advantageous
