About the role:
The aim of this role is to To complete the relevant training and progress through the academy to become a Class 2 HGV driver. To load and deliver goods safely, efficiently and on time while providing excellent customer service and representing the company in a professional manner. The academy driver is a key customer-facing role, responsible for ensuring deliveries are completed accurately and courteously in line with company and UK transport regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- People: To support the underlying principle of Creating a Great Place to Work.
- Training: To obtain medical and provisional licence. Complete and pass theory and hazard perception course. Complete and pass practical category C test. Complete and pass module 2 and module 4 training. Obtain tachograph card.
- Driving Duties: Safely drive the academy van along assigned routes and schedules. Ensure compliance with all road safety rules and regulations. Load, Secure, transport, and deliver goods to designated locations as per schedule. Drive company vehicles safely and efficiently, complying with UK Road Traffic Laws and working Time Directive Regulations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle. Ensure the van is clean, fuelled, and in good working condition at all times. Report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the Transport Supervisor immediately.
- Safety & Conduct: Always obey rules and regulations on roads. Safety conscious driving and handling. Follow SOPs when loading and unloading van. Always Ensure Compliance with Health and Safety procedures.
- Administrative Duties: Accurately record temperatures of fridge/freezer unit Accurately complete product returns sheets and invoices. Accurately count and record cash received from cash on delivery customers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid driver’s license (appropriate category for van type).
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Minimum 1 – 2 years of driving and manual handling experience.
- Must be 21 years old or over (for insurance purposes)
- Ability to work independently and handle goods safely
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Good knowledge of UK road networks and transport regulations
- Strong attention to detail and good time management
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Competencies & Skills
- Capable of lifting and moving goods within manual handling limits
- Ability to sit and driver for long periods
- Fitness to pass regular medical and eyesight checks as required by DVLA

- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
