Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Manager in Transport to lead our transportation operations with energy and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end logistics processes, ensuring seamless coordination between carriers, warehouses, and supply chain partners. Your leadership will drive process improvements, optimize transportation management systems, and uphold safety and compliance standards. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor transportation strategies aligned with company goals to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee daily transportation operations, including shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups.
- Supervise a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster a high-performing environment.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements are met or exceeded.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP systems to track shipments, analyze data, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain oversight of profit & loss statements related to transportation activities, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including forklift operation standards and warehouse safety protocols.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on streamlining shipping & receiving processes and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience in transportation or logistics management roles with a track record of leading teams effectively.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, supply chain management, and warehouse functions including shipping & receiving.
- Hands-on experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and AS400 platforms.
- Knowledge of 3PL partnerships, freight negotiations, and process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment operation including forklifts and adherence to safety standards.
- Ability to analyze profit & loss statements to inform strategic decisions for cost control and efficiency gains.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and external partners effectively.
