We are a small, established vegan and nut-free bakery specialising in celebration cakes, cupcakes and other baked treats, which we send to customers throughout the UK.
We are looking for two reliable Baker/Packers to join our small team.
There are two positions available:
Position 1: Sunday & Monday
Position 2: Tuesday & Wednesday
Hours
9.00am–3.00pm, including a 30-minute unpaid break
5.5 paid hours per day / 11 paid hours per week
Applicants must be available to work the full shift. On particularly busy days, there may occasionally be a need to stay later than 3.00pm, so some flexibility with finishing time is required.
Your normal two working days will be fixed, although some flexibility to swap or cover days with the other team member for holidays or sickness would be helpful.
The role
This is a varied, hands-on position covering baking, packing and order processing. You will be trained to handle the day-to-day workflow of the bakery rather than carrying out just one task.
Duties will include:
- Baking cakes, cupcakes and other products to our recipes and standards
- Preparing and weighing ingredients
- Packing and preparing cakes for dispatch
- Processing incoming customer orders accurately
- Checking orders due for dispatch
- Preparing courier/shipping information and labels using our online systems
- Checking delivery dates, products and special requirements
- Stocktaking and refilling ingredients and packaging
- General cleaning and keeping the bakery clean and organised
- Washing floors and other weekly cleaning tasks
- Lifting and moving heavy sacks of ingredients and boxes
- Helping with other bakery duties as required
About you
You don't necessarily need professional bakery experience, but you must be confident baking from recipes and able to work accurately and consistently.
The role also involves processing orders and preparing shipments, so you must be comfortable using a computer and online systems. Full training will be given on our order and shipping systems.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual
- Organised and able to work independently
- Comfortable and confident using computers
- Accurate with good attention to detail
- Able to follow recipes and procedures consistently
- Happy doing a mixture of baking, packing, cleaning and computer-based work
- Able to work efficiently in a small bakery
- Physically able to stand for much of the shift and lift and move heavy sacks of ingredients and boxes
- Flexible enough to occasionally stay later when production requires it
Experience in baking, food production, packing, catering or a similar environment would be useful, but reliability, accuracy and willingness to learn are equally important.
