ROLE: HOPE Mentor
HOURS: 40 Hours per week

We're looking for full time HOPE Mentor's, with lived experience of the justice system, who will support individuals in custody through shared experience, trust‑building, and rehabilitative guidance.
The ideal candidate will have personal lived experience of the justice system (for example, through personal addiction, poor mental health, homelessness, or having served a community or prison sentence). To effectively support others, the candidate should be at least three years removed from these experiences, demonstrating personal growth and resilience.
- Assess and support prisoners through personal assessments, developing tailored plans to aid rehabilitation and resettlement
- Provide one-to-one practical and emotional support, helping individuals navigate challenges and stay motivated to achieve their goals
- Facilitate structured group sessions, promoting peer support, shared experiences, and mutual growth
- Collaborate with prison staff, partners, and community organisations to support reintegration and access to services such as housing, employment, and education
- Maintain accurate records, manage risk and safeguarding concerns, and ensure compliance with security processes, confidentiality, and GDPR
- Minimum 3 years' experience supporting individuals with complex needs (e.g. substance misuse, mental health, neurodiversity) and lived experience of the criminal justice system
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage in a non-judgemental, empathetic manner, alongside experience delivering group and one-to-one interventions
- Understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Desirable: Qualification in Health and Social Care, counselling or substance misuse, and knowledge of trauma-informed care and IT systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
