We are seeking an enthusiastic Functional Skills Maths Tutor to deliver engaging maths learning to young people, helping them develop confidence, achieve qualifications and progress into education, employment or training. The successful candidate will provide personalised support, track learner progress, work collaboratively with colleagues and create a positive learning environment that inspires achievement and success.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and high-quality Functional Skills Maths tuition to young people, both in groups and on a one-to-one basis.

Plan, deliver and assess learning sessions that build confidence, improve numeracy skills and support progression into education, training or employment.

Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of learners with diverse abilities, learning needs and barriers to education.

Develop personalised learning plans and support learners to achieve realistic goals and accredited qualifications.

Motivate and engage young people, including those who may have had negative experiences of education or are at risk of becoming NEET.

Monitor, assess and record learner progress, celebrating achievements and supporting successful outcomes.

Liaise with exam providers to arrange Functional Skills assessments and support learners through the examination process.

Work closely with colleagues to provide joined-up support around employability, careers guidance and progression planning.

Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to project monitoring and reporting requirements.

Embed employability, life skills and positive progression opportunities within learning activities.

Contribute to safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and uphold the values of Youth Connect South West.
Qualifications and Experience:

GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or equivalent

Qualifications in education, such as a Level 3 Diploma in supporting teaching and learning OR educated to Level 3 with relevant experience of supporting young people with young people with SEND, learning difficulties, disabilities, and complex needs.

Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths to young people.
