Sunshine Community Nursery is a family-owned nursery conveniently located near St James's Hospital and within easy reach of Leeds City Centre. We provide high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years in a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

Job Description:
It is the Nursery Nurses Responsibility to help and assist the Senior Nursery Nurse in the day-to-day running of their room. In general, they must have a holistic view of the Nursery and maintain a happy and safe environment. The Nursery Nurse must remain loyal to the Company and report any cause for concerns to the Senior Nursery Nurse. Above all, the Nursery Nurse must work in a professional way, display a positive attitude, integrity and calm assurance at all times. The Nursery Nurse must always be aware of their role of responsibilities which include the following:
Duties
Parents/Carers
- To help and assist the Senior Nursery Nurse with the settling in of new children.
- Be aware of any problems and concerns and report them to the Senior Nursery Nurse.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with Parent/Carers.
- Always be available for support and advice but, always refer any questions you are unsure about to the Senior Nursery Nurse. Reassure parents when needed.
- Give detailed and accurate feedback to the Parent/Carer on their child’s day.
- Plan and attend termly parents’ evenings to discuss children's progress, likes and dislikes.
Children’s wellbeing
- Be welcoming to all the children and their Parent/Carers.
- Be aware of safeguarding and our policies/ procedures.
- Report any causes for concern involving children, parents or staff to the Senior Nursery Nurse and Safeguarding lead.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures. Completing our in-house training programme.
- Provide a caring and stimulating learning environment.
- Use skills of observation to assess the children within the EYFS, monitoring and recording their progress.
- Keep child's online learning journal up to date.
- Ensure the wellbeing & developmental needs of your Key Children are always met.
- Help ensure the Nursery always meets Ofsted requirements.
- Plan effectively for your Key Children so they can progress and achieve suitable next steps.
- Maintain Health and Safety Standards at all times.
Staff
- Work as part of a strong and loyal team.
- Help maintain high standards.
- Be available for support and advice. If in doubt refer to Senior staff.
- Ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident forms, famly etc.
- Value and respect one another’s ideas.
- Follow and implement the Buddy system.
- Assist in planning and displays.
- Cover in case of absence.
- Be familiar with and put into practise all policies and procedures.
- Complete the inhouse training to silver level.
- Take an active part in events e.g. Carnival, Graduation.
Other duties
As required by Management in connection with the smooth running of the Nursery.
