We are looking for a part time (10hrs per week) experienced medical receptionist at a GP surgery. Opening hours are 8.30am - 6.30pm so ideally a shift on Monday 8.30am - 12.30pm and Wednesday 12.30pm - 6.30pm, this is not flexible, we are a small but friendly team.
You will be asked to receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Experience of working in General practice, use of EMIS clinical system, previous experience in GP administrative support would be an advantage, but not essential.
Flexibility and willingness essential.

Reception
- Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
- Dealing with emails
- Be able to cover all reception duties as necessary
Appointments
- Process appointment requests for on the day/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
- Deal with visits/requests
Computer
- Registrations of new patients – computer data entry and medical records
- Process patients’ changes of address – computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area)
- Register patients for online services
Telephone
- Have working knowledge of multi-line telephones
- Have the confidence to answer telephone calls and deal with queries
Other Tasks
- Ensure building security - key holder
- Any other tasks allocated by managers

- In the performance of the duties outlined in this job description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. - Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually)
