About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and reliable Warehouse Operative to join our Goods-In Department on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will support the safe and efficient receipt, storage, movement and control of stock and materials across our site. The role involves working in several Goods-In areas, including our cold store, chill and warehouse facilities, as well as helping to maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the yard.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Unloading vehicles, checking the quality and condition of goods and storing them correctly.
- Moving and delivering goods to production areas using forklift trucks and pallet trucks.
- Manually picking, moving and lifting stock as required.
- Operating the waste compactor safely.
- Completing daily safety checks for forklifts and pallet trucks.
- Following the company’s stock traceability procedures.
- Applying the First In, First Out—or FIFO—stock rotation system.
- Keeping traceability boards and stock records accurate and up to date.
- Maintaining stock deduction records when goods are released.
- Ensuring allergens are stored correctly and preventing cross-contamination.
- Picking and moving chemical drums for cleaning operations in accordance with COSHH requirements and company procedures.
- Assisting with monthly stocktakes.
- Maintaining clean, tidy and organised warehouse and yard areas under the company’s clean-as-you-go policy.
- Gritting and clearing snow from the yard using appropriate equipment when required.
- Moving machinery and equipment to and from factory areas when authorised.
- Carrying out other reasonable duties associated with the Goods-In operation.
Equipment Used
The Goods-In Department uses several types of material-handling equipment, including:
- Articulated electric forklift trucks.
- Counterbalance forklift trucks.
- Electric reach trucks.
- Hand pallet trucks.
- Electric pallet trucks.
Appropriate training and authorisation will be provided where required.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions and site procedures.
- Organised and committed to maintaining accurate records.
- Computer literate and comfortable using basic electronic stock systems.
- Able to work across warehouse, chilled and cold-store environments.
- Able to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including regular manual handling, with reasonable adjustments considered where appropriate.
Previous warehouse experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
A current counterbalance forklift licence would also be advantageous.
