Role Purpose
The Group Training Manager will lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive training strategy across Harmony Auto UK, ensuring every employee has the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
From new employee induction through to advanced sales, leadership, customer journey, operational processes and digital systems, this role will be responsible for creating a consistent learning culture that supports both Harmony Auto's ambitious growth plans and BYD's evolving standards.
Working closely with departmental leaders and BYD, the Group Training Manager will identify development opportunities, improve operational processes, increase productivity and ensure every customer receives a seamless, professional and premium experience.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Development
- Develop and implement the Group Training Strategy across all Harmony Auto dealerships.
- Design engaging training programmes covering Sales, Aftersales, Customer Experience and Operational Excellence.
- Create structured learning pathways for all roles from new starters through to management.
- Deliver classroom, workshop, virtual and on-site coaching sessions.
- Develop succession planning and talent development programmes.
- Identify future skills required to support company growth.
Sales Excellence
- Deliver sales process training aligned with BYD and Harmony standards.
- Coach sales teams to maximise customer engagement and conversion.
- Improve product knowledge across all departments.
- Develop negotiation, finance and customer communication skills.
- Support dealership leadership teams with ongoing coaching and performance improvement.
Customer Journey
Own and continuously improve the end-to-end customer journey including:
- Initial enquiry
- Digital engagement
- Showroom experience
- Demonstration drives
- Sales process
- Finance handover
- Vehicle handover
- Aftercare
- Customer retention
Monitor customer feedback and NPS results to identify training opportunities that improve customer satisfaction.
Induction & Onboarding
- Create a market-leading induction programme for all new employees.
- Ensure new starters understand Harmony values, culture and customer expectations.
- Develop onboarding materials, welcome programmes and role-specific training plans.
- Monitor employee progress during probation periods.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Train employees on all internal systems and operational processes.
- Identify inefficient or duplicated processes and recommend improvements.
- Work alongside department heads to streamline workflows.
- Support the rollout of new systems and technology.
- Produce training documentation, process maps and standard operating procedures.
Performance & Compliance
- Measure training effectiveness through KPIs and business performance.
- Track training completion across the Group.
- Ensure compliance with BYD operational standards.
- Support retailer audits and operational reviews.
- Maintain accurate training records.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience within Automotive Retail.
- Experience designing and delivering training programmes.
- Strong understanding of dealership sales processes.
- Excellent presentation and coaching skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience analysing performance data to identify development opportunities.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Previous Group Training or Learning & Development experience.
- Experience working with BYD or another automotive manufacturer.
- Coaching or Training qualification.
- Experience in change management.
- Knowledge of CRM, DMS and automotive retail systems.
