Job Summary:
The Structural Steel Welder is responsible for assembling and welding structural steel components according to drawings, and specifications. This position requires a strong understanding of welding techniques, materials, and safety standards to ensure high-quality and structurally sound finished products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret shop drawings, and welding symbols.
- Set up, position, and secure steel components for welding.
- Perform various welding processes.
- Inspect completed welds for quality and conformance to specifications.
- Grind, cut, and fit components as needed to prepare for welding or assembly.
- Operate equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, and saws.
- Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Perform maintenance and cleaning of welding tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in structural steel welding is essential.
- Proficiency in welding techniques, particularly mig welding, is essential.
- Strong knowledge with the ability to understand technical drawings.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in fabrication processes.
- Basic maths skills for accurate measurements and calculations are required.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
