Now Education is currently recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time, long-term basis at a Birkdale High School.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and committed Teaching Assistant who has previous experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a school environment.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to provide effective support to pupils with additional needs. You may work with students on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and within the classroom, helping them to access learning, build confidence and make positive progress.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing tailored support to pupils with a range of SEND needs
- Supporting students during lessons and helping them remain engaged with learning
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions where required
- Promoting positive behaviour, independence and confidence
- Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and educational development
- Working closely with teachers, the SEND team and other school staff
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
Applicants must have relevant previous experience working within a school environment, ideally supporting pupils with SEND.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are:
- Experienced in supporting children or young people with additional needs
- Calm, patient and able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Confident supporting students with differing levels of need
- Reliable and able to commit to a full-time, long-term position
- Comfortable working as part of a wider school team
- Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning
Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualifications are desirable; however, strong and relevant school-based experience will also be considered.
