LTS Group is currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Enfield. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist provision supporting up to 11 pupils with complex needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences, supporting pupil progress, and working closely with the SENDCo and wider support team. Working with primary-aged children with complex needs. Under the leadership of the SENDCo, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the teaching and pastoral support of up to 10 EYFS and KS1 pupils within the school's specialist 'Soft Hub' provision. Working alongside support staff, you will help deliver the highest quality care, learning, and support to enable every child to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, resource, and lead engaging learning sessions tailored to individual pupil needs.
- Assess pupil progress and use assessment outcomes to inform and adapt provision.
- Lead and support a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) within the provision.
- Support pupils with complex needs, including personal care requirements where necessary.
- Evidence learning and progress through photographs, observations, and other appropriate methods.
- Work closely with the SENDCo to complete statutory paperwork and ensure compliance with EHCP requirements.
- Contribute to the development and review of EHCP targets, learning support plans, and documentation of need.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular communication regarding pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Essential
- SEND qualification or relevant SEND training.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children with SEND or complex needs.
- Ability to adapt the curriculum to meet a range of learning needs.
- Experience assessing and responding to individual educational needs.
- Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate learning sessions effectively.
- Knowledge of teaching strategies such as PECS, social stories, and other SEND interventions.
- Ability to deliver high-quality teaching and effective intervention programmes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and record-keeping skills.
- Positive, proactive, and solution-focused approach.
Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching primary-aged pupils with SEND or complex needs within a specialist provision.
- Knowledge of a range of SEND assessment methods.
- Understanding of current research and best practice in SEND education.
- Working knowledge of EHCPs and the SEND Code of Practice.
