Operations Manager – Residential Children’s Services
Location: Lancashire (travel across the North West required)

As our organisation continues to grow, we are looking to recruit an exceptional Operations Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in supporting the operational delivery, quality and future development of our services.
The Role
This is a senior leadership role working closely with the Managing Director and the Responsible Individual (RI).
The successful candidate will support the operational delivery of our residential children’s homes, working alongside Registered Managers to provide leadership, guidance and practical support where required.
Working collaboratively with the Responsible Individual, the Operations Manager will help ensure every service delivers consistently high standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the Managing Director to help shape the strategic direction of the business, support future growth and contribute to the successful mobilisation of new services.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Provide operational leadership and support to Registered Managers across all services.
- Coach, mentor and develop managers to achieve consistently high standards.
- Support managers during safeguarding incidents, staffing challenges and operational pressures.
- Identify operational risks and implement effective solutions.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Support the consistent delivery of high-quality care across all homes.
Working with the Responsible Individual
- Work in partnership with the Responsible Individual to ensure safe, compliant and high-performing services.
- Support the implementation of quality assurance findings and improvement plans.
- Assist with Ofsted inspections, monitoring visits and regulatory activity.
- Ensure actions arising from audits and inspections are completed effectively.
- Help embed learning and best practice across the organisation.
Strategy & Business Growth
Working alongside the Managing Director, you will:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Support the opening of new children’s homes.
- Assist with acquisitions and the integration of new services.
- Lead operational improvement projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service quality.
- Support the continued growth and long-term success of the organisation.
Leadership
- Build positive relationships with Registered Managers and senior leaders.
- Support recruitment, induction and development of operational leaders.
- Encourage innovation and the sharing of best practice.
- Lead by example and promote a positive, child-centred culture throughout the organisation.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience within residential children’s services.
- Experience supporting or overseeing multiple Ofsted-registered children’s homes.
- Excellent knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Extensive safeguarding knowledge and experience.
- Proven ability to support, coach and develop Registered Managers.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience working with Ofsted and Local Authorities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting new home registrations.
- Experience leading operational improvement programmes.
- Experience contributing to organisational growth and expansion.
