About the role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Clinical Lead to join our team and play a central part in delivering outstanding nursing care to our residents. This is a hands-on leadership role - you will be present on the floor, working alongside nurses and care staff every day, not just managing from a distance.
Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will set the clinical standard across the home, acting as a mentor, coach, and first point of contact for all clinical matters. What you will be doing
- Leading care teams on the floor and overseeing clinical practices, including medication rounds, wound care, and emergency response
- Providing hands-on mentorship and training to nursing and care staff, building clinical competency across the team
- Leading resident assessments and ensuring care plans are clinically sound and genuinely person-centred
- Conducting real-time coaching, supervisions, and observations to drive continuous improvement
- Responding to clinical incidents, carrying out root cause analysis, and implementing improvement plans
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with GPs, pharmacists, and wider community health teams
- Supporting rota planning to ensure the right skills mix and adequate staffing at all times
- Contributing to mock inspections, audits, and quality assurance processes
- Ensuring infection control measures and safeguarding protocols are followed without exception
What we are looking for
- Current and valid NMC registration - this is essential
- Proven experience in a similar clinical or supervisory nursing role, ideally within a care home or nursing home setting
- Strong clinical knowledge and the confidence to make decisions and lead under pressure
- A natural communicator who can mentor staff, liaise with external professionals, and engage with residents and families alike
- Experience of incident analysis, root cause analysis, and implementing subsequent action plans
- Familiarity with CQC regulatory requirements and a commitment to compliance
- A management or leadership qualification (desirable but not essential)
