Lead the Finance team to deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting.
The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the financial control, reporting, compliance, accounting and payroll activities of the business. The role ensures the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, robust internal controls, effective cash management and statutory compliance.
A key responsibility of the role is the management of long-term contract accounting under IFRS 15, ensuring revenue, costs, contract assets, contract liabilities and project profitability are recognised and reported accurately throughout the lifecycle of engineering and manufacturing projects.
The Financial Controller will act as a trusted business partner to operational, commercial and project management teams, providing financial insight that supports profitable growth, effective risk management and improved business performance.
What you'll be doing:
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Prepare monthly management accounts, board reports, financial analysis and parent group reporting returns.
Lead the team, and influence the wider business, through Finance change projects including use of the D365 ERP system and other ICT solutions with appropriate controls.
Own the accounting policy and treatment of long-term contracts in accordance with IFRS 15.
Monitor project budgets, forecast costs to complete and contract profitability.
Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity reporting.
Partner with project managers, commercial managers and operational leadership teams.
Monitor debtor collections, supplier payments and working capital performance.
Lead monthly contract financial reviews with project managers and commercial teams.
Ensure adequate documentation supporting revenue recognition judgements and audit requirements.
Who we are looking for:
ACCA, ACA or CIMA fully qualified with PQE experience.
A minimum of eight years’ experience working at a senior level in financial control within a manufacturing, engineering or project-based business.
IFRS knowledge and experience advantageous.
Project accounting and experience advantageous.
Experience of Tax, CIS and corporate reporting returns.
Experience of ERP systems for financial control, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Strong communication skills, highly literate and numerate.
Experience of leading a Finance team through an efficient month end, and full audit process.
Experience of managing cashflow and banking.
Experience supervising a Payroll Manager is advantageous.
