IT Support Technician (1st, 2nd & 3rd Line)

VB Group is seeking an experienced IT Support Technician to join our team at our Darwen site.
This is a broad, hands-on role supporting all aspects of the business's IT infrastructure and software estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support, maintaining business-critical systems, and contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of our IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line technical support to users across the business.
- Install, configure and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers and other IT equipment.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
- Support and maintain business applications and operational software.
- Assist with system upgrades, migrations, deployments and IT projects.
- Manage user accounts, permissions and IT assets.
- Monitor system performance and ensure IT security best practices are maintained.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation where required.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers and service providers when necessary.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and the overall user experience.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in an IT support role covering 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Good understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and switching.
- Experience supporting both infrastructure and business software applications.
- Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware would be advantageous.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
