Role Overview
Panorama Antennas Ltd manufactures and sells its range of antennas, coaxial cables and related products to users globally both directly and via a network of distributors, resellers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Panorama Antennas Ltd owns and operates national sales and distribution businesses in the UK, USA, France and Australia along with manufacturing operations in the UK and Singapore. Panorama exports products to more than 80 countries.
Framework and Objective
The Compliance Engineer is part of the technical team and reports to the Technical Manager. The technical team is made up of design / mechanical engineering and RF engineering teams. Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring all antenna products meet applicable mechanical, materials, safety, design, and radio‑frequency compliance requirements across global markets.
This includes involvement from early design through testing, documentation, and ongoing certification management. The role involves collaboration with RF, mechanical and design engineering, quality, operations, and external test agencies, with occasional travel to support compliance testing. The role will also involve acting as a point of contact to address compliance related queries from other teams within the business.
Principal Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Approvals:
- Manage global RF and product compliance requirements including FCC, EU RED, UKCA and other regional and sector specific approvals.
- Establish and keep updated registers of relevant legal, regulatory and industry specific requirements that apply to different product types.
- Define compliance strategies and test plans for new and existing products.
- Coordinate with accredited test labs and authorities to achieve timely certifications.
- Maintain approvals databases, technical files, declarations, and certification records.
Mechanical, Materials & Safety Compliance:
- Assess product designs for compliance with mechanical robustness, IP/IK ratings, sector specific and global standards.
- Ensure materials meet RoHS, REACH, and other hazardous‑materials requirements.
- Review supplier CoCs, materials declarations, and assess material changes for compliance risks.
- Consolidate, establish and maintain detailed materials data for new and existing products.
Design Assurance & Documentation:
- Work with design engineering to embed compliance into product design from concept onward.
- Review drawings, BOMs, specifications, and validation plans for compliance alignment.
- Prepare and maintain technical files, DoCs, and formal documentation.
- Support engineering change management for compliance‑related changes.
General:
- Provide support for process audits including ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
- Any other duties that are assigned by the Technical Director which could be reasonably understood to fall within the scope and competence of the role.
Specific Knowledge & Skills:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics/RF Engineering or related field
- Experience working in a compliance engineering role for an engineering or manufacturing company essential
- Specific experience with RF products, antennas, wireless devices, or electronic hardware advantageous.
- Knowledge of materials compliance (RoHS/REACH), and environmental/mechanical standards desirable.
- Experience with materials management and declarations also desirable
- Commercially minded and able to understand the impact of engineering decisions on current and future work
- Strong communication skills including good written English
- Good IT skills
- A team player able to evidence highest levels of collaborative working
- Prepared to travel occasionally
