Buttercup Montessori Kindergarten is looking for a friendly, organised and enthusiastic Nursery Cook to join the team at our new nursery setting on New London Road, Chelmsford.
We are an established nursery group providing high-quality early years care and education across Chelmsford. Our New London Road setting is the newest addition to Buttercup Montessori and has a dedicated kitchen where meals will be freshly prepared on site each day.
The Role
As our Nursery Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving fresh, healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for children from birth to 5 years of age.
Alongside the day-to-day running of the kitchen, the role will include supporting the smooth running of the nursery with general housekeeping duties, including managing the daily laundry for the nursery rooms.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking fresh lunches, teas and snacks each day
- Providing healthy, nutritious and age-appropriate meals for young children
- Catering safely for allergies, intolerances and individual dietary requirements
- Following allergen procedures and ensuring dietary information is carefully managed
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and food safety at all times
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well maintained
- Completing appropriate food safety checks and kitchen records
- Ensuring food is stored, prepared and served correctly and safely
- Managing the nursery's daily laundry
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
You should enjoy preparing fresh, nutritious food and understand the importance of food safety, cleanliness and careful management of allergies and dietary requirements when working with young children.
Previous experience as a cook or working within a professional kitchen would be desirable. Experience within a nursery, school or childcare environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
This is an opportunity to join an established nursery group while becoming part of the team at our newest setting from the beginning.
If you enjoy preparing fresh, healthy food, take pride in keeping a well-organised kitchen and are happy to support the wider day-to-day running of the nursery, we would very much like to hear from you.
