Semi-Skilled Engineer
Location: Norwich
Pay: £16.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 42.5 paid hours per week
Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day
Shred Station is looking for a practical and mechanically minded Workshop Engineering Assistant to support our mechanics and field engineers.
The role will be primarily based at our Norwich workshop, assisting with the day-to-day servicing, maintenance and repair of forklift trucks. You will also travel to customer and company sites when required to support field engineers working on equipment such as Shredders, compactors and other waste-processing machinery.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist workshop mechanics with forklift servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Support fault finding and mechanical repairs.
- Help field engineers with on-site maintenance and repair work.
- Work on Shredders, compactors and associated machinery.
- Prepare tools, parts and equipment for workshop and site-based jobs.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Complete basic maintenance records and report any additional defects.
- Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
About You
- Good practical mechanical knowledge is essential.
- Previous experience working with forklifts, plant, vehicles or industrial machinery would be beneficial.
- Comfortable using hand tools and workshop equipment.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willing to travel to other sites when required.
- Reliable, practical and willing to learn.
- Welding or fabrication skills would be an advantage.
- A full UK driving licence is preferred.
