Job Title: Dog Groomer / Animal Care Trainer Coach (Assessor / Tutor)
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours p/w
Salary: £26,000.00 - £33,000.00 per annum

Purpose of Job / Company Values
The Trainer Coach is accountable for the end‑to‑end learning journey, progression and achievement of a caseload of apprentices. The role designs, delivers, and evaluates high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment (TLA) that meets DfE, Ofsted, Awarding Organisation, and internal quality standards. The Trainer Coach also plays a key role in ensuring employer engagement, compliance, and learner wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Teaching, Learning & Assessment Delivery
- Deliver high‑quality knowledge and competency‑based teaching, learning and assessments in line with Awarding Body, Ofsted, and funding requirements.
- Design and deliver off‑the‑job training sessions ensuring alignment with programme and funding requirements.
- Develop, upload and evaluate resources (including Moodle materials) to support learner progress.
- Adapt teaching, coaching and assessment approaches to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities, confidence levels and learning styles.
- Ensure all assessment evidence is valid, authentic, reliable, current and sufficient.
Learner Progression & Achievement
- Own the timely achievement of each learner in your caseload.
- Conduct monthly learner progress reviews, agreeing clear and measurable targets.
- Track progression, identify risks early, and implement intervention plans.
- Ensure learner documentation, e-portfolios and records are accurate and compliant.
Employer Engagement
- Engage with employers to support learner achievement and maintain positive relationships.
- Ensure employers understand programme requirements including off‑the‑job hours.
- Provide regular updates to employers on learner progress and required actions.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Meet all contract, quality, and compliance requirements including recruitment, attainment, and caseload OKRs.
- Support cross‑cutting themes: Literacy, numeracy, digital literacy, employability, and sustainability.
- Participate in standardisation, audit, inspection, and quality activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through feedback and resource development.
- Commitment to continuous professional development relevant to the industry area being assessed.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
- Review safeguarding and wellbeing concerns and escalate through correct channels.
- Ensure all learners feel safe, supported, and able to disclose concerns.

Essential Criteria
Essential industry specific experience:
· Up-to-date, relevant, deep, and broad experience of working within the Dog Grooming and Animal care industries.
· Passion for work-based learning
· Experience and competence in the occupational area of the apprenticeships including practical and current knowledge of working practices and infrastructure.
Essential qualifications:
· Level 3 Dog Groomer qualification.
- Level 3 Animal Care and Welfare qualification.
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and math or ability to undertake them successfully within probation period
Essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours:
· Excellent integrity and interpersonal skills
· Customer focused commercial awareness
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with substantive experience of providing supportive, concise feedback to learners, assessors and key stakeholders
· Ability to offer guidance on careers advice and next steps after completing an Apprenticeship
· Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
· Proficient IT skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
· Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
· Driving licence with access to own car
Desirable Criteria
· Hold or working towards an assessor qualification (A1/A2/D32/D33/TAQA or equivalent qualification)
· Relevant teaching qualification (minimum PTTLS) or Education and Training Level 3 or 4
· Level 2 ICT
· Experience of preparing for and presenting to a target audience
- Experience of marking and grading assessments
