Hours: 35 hours per week – 5 days per week, 7 hours per day

About the Role
The Candle Works is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised Shop Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running and continued growth of our thriving retail store.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves retail, enjoys working with customers and has a creative flair for marketing and social media.
As a growing business, we’re looking for someone who wants to make the role their own. You’ll have the freedom to bring forward new ideas, put your own stamp on the shop and help us develop The Candle Works as the business continues to grow.
Key ResponsibilitiesShop Management
- Take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the store.
- Ensure the shop is welcoming, well presented and provides an excellent customer experience.
- Maintain high standards of merchandising, displays and overall store presentation.
- Open and close the shop and oversee daily retail operations.
- Support and manage shop staff, helping to create a positive and motivated working environment.
- Deal confidently and professionally with customer enquiries.
Stock Management & Ordering
- Carry out regular stock counts and maintain accurate stock levels.
- Monitor best-selling products and identify when stock needs replenishing.
- Place and manage stock orders.
- Help ensure we have the right products and stock levels for seasonal periods and promotions.
- Keep stock rooms and retail areas organised and well managed.
- Identify opportunities to introduce or promote new products.
Marketing & Social Media
- Help manage and grow The Candle Works' social media presence.
- Create engaging content showcasing products, new arrivals, promotions and what’s happening in store.
- Take photographs and create simple videos/reels for social media.
- Help plan seasonal campaigns, promotions and in-store events.
- Bring forward creative ideas to increase footfall, customer engagement and sales.
- Help develop the personality and presence of The Candle Works both in-store and online.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, confident and passionate about delivering great customer service.
- Organised and comfortable taking responsibility for the running of a shop.
- Proactive and able to work independently.
- Creative, with an interest in marketing and social media.
- Commercially minded and always looking for ways to improve sales and the customer experience.
- Comfortable managing stock, ordering and general shop administration.
- A positive team player who enjoys working in a busy retail environment.
- Excited by the opportunity to grow alongside an ambitious business.
Previous retail or management experience would be an advantage, particularly within an independent or lifestyle retail environment. Experience creating social media content would also be beneficial.
