Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Motor Vehicle Technician/MOT Tester to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle inspections, diagnosing faults, and performing necessary repairs to ensure vehicles meet safety and environmental standards. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive MOT tests on a variety of vehicles in accordance with legal and safety standards
- Diagnose mechanical issues using specialised hand tools and power tools
- Perform repairs, replacements, and maintenance tasks as required to bring vehicles up to standard
- Carry out routine inspections and identify potential safety concerns or defects
- Utilise heavy lifting techniques safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and service history for each vehicle
- Ensure all work complies with industry regulations and company policies
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician or similar role with strong mechanical knowledge
- Valid MOT tester certification or willingness to obtain certification upon employment
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repair tasks
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Relevant automotive qualifications or NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance is desirable but not essential
