Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Cook to join our vibrant early childhood education team on a part time, term time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals and snacks tailored to the dietary needs of young children. Your culinary skills will help create a warm, welcoming environment where children can enjoy healthy food options that support their growth and development. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook balanced meals and snacks suitable for children in accordance with nutritional guidelines and dietary restrictions
- Ensure all food is prepared safely, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene at all times
- Organize and manage kitchen operations efficiently, including ingredient sourcing, portioning, and meal presentation
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including equipment, utensils, and surfaces, following health regulations
- Collaborate with staff to plan menus that are nutritious, appealing, and age-appropriate
- Serve meals to children in a friendly manner, encouraging healthy eating habits and positive mealtime experiences
- Follow all safety procedures related to food handling, storage, and sanitation to prevent contamination or accidents
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or educational setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
- Experience with meal preparation for young children or infants is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and caregivers
- Prior kitchen or restaurant experience is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
- Commitment to creating a safe, clean, and nurturing mealtime environment for children

Pay: £12.71 per hour
