Our client is a local authority in Sussex, seeking an experienced senior financial professional to lead and support its financial planning activities. This is an excellent opportunity to provide strategic financial advice, oversee financial forecasts and budgets, and contribute to long-term financial planning within a public sector environment.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Planning Manager (Interim) to lead and manage financial planning activities across the organisation. You will provide strategic financial advice and clear recommendations to senior stakeholders, supporting effective financial decision-making and ensuring financial planning processes align with organisational priorities.
This role involves:
- Leading and managing financial planning activities across the organisation
- Providing strategic financial advice to support effective planning and decision-making
- Overseeing financial forecasts, budgets and long-term financial plans
- Analysing complex financial information and providing clear recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Supporting the development and monitoring of financial strategies and objectives
- Ensuring financial planning processes are accurate, timely and aligned with organisational priorities
- Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across the organisation to support effective financial management
This is a hybrid role, with approximately two days per week based at County Hall, Chichester.
Requirements
Must-Have Requirements
- Significant experience in senior financial planning or financial management
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
- Ability to analyse complex financial information and provide clear advice
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working at a senior level within a complex organisation
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment
Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Experience working within local government or the public sector
- Relevant professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting strategic financial planning within a large organisation
