After 33+ years of excellence, Leighton are on our next chapter of growth - and we need a commercially astute, strategically minded business development leader to play a pivotal role in that journey.
You will operate in a high performing team, creating and closing large scale digital transformation projects with huge organisations.
You will be encouraged to suggest your own growth initiatives whilst having the support of the business to help you identify and win new clients.
You will be given the chance to grow and develop within Leighton as we continue to drive commercial success whilst always maintaining outstanding company culture.
Please note: this role will require regular travel to Leeds, Newcastle and London as part of it's remit.
Why Leighton?
- A name that opens doors: 33 years of proven delivery has earned us a reputation global companies trust.
- A voice that carries weight: You'll have a genuine hand in our development strategy, our market positioning and how we scale.
- Talent that raises your game: Work alongside world-class engineers and architects on complex, high-value technical projects.
- Deals worth chasing: Pursue enterprise-scale engagements that call for real business acumen, technical fluency and consultative selling.
- A team behind you: A dedicated BDR function helps build your pipeline, with pre-sales consultants and marketing supporting you at every stage.
What you will do
- Own a slice of the revenue pipeline. Identify, create and close high-value new business opportunities, drawing on your existing CIO, CTO and CDO network and building outreach that keeps a strong enterprise pipeline flowing.
- Lead complex sales cycles. Take deals from first conversation through to signed contract, coordinating multi-stakeholder engagements, steering technical and commercial negotiations, and rallying internal teams around proposals that win.
- Be the trusted advisor. Understand what's really holding customers back, whether that's transformation blockers, technical debt, integration headaches or modernisation ambitions, and position Leighton as the partner who solves it.
- Drive market intelligence. Keep ahead of technology and consulting trends, bringing fresh perspective on emerging opportunities, competitive threats and changing enterprise buying behaviour.
- Shape go-to-market strategy. Partner with Marketing and our AWS Alliance Lead to design targeted campaigns, sharpen our Ideal Customer Profile, and build a plan for breaking into new verticals and accounts.
- Be target-driven. Take ownership of an achievable annual new-business revenue target, with reward that reflects the value you bring.
What makes you the ideal candidate
- A history of winning big deals: 5+ years closing six-figure engagements in consulting, professional services or enterprise technology.
- Executive presence: You're at ease and credible in front of CIOs, CTOs and CDOs.
- Technical fluency: You don't need to write code, but you understand enterprise digital programmes well enough to hold your own in detailed conversations.
- Consultative selling instincts: You know complex sales are won by solving real problems, not pitching products.
- High drive: Self-motivated, ambitious and keen to be part of something that's genuinely growing.
- Collaborative excellence: You know big deals take a team effort, working closely with pre-sales, delivery leads and executives.
- Flexibility and commitment: You're comfortable with regular travel and the pace of enterprise sales, showing up when a big pitch calls for it.
Who you will work with
You'll report directly to the Head of Business Development and play a key part in the Business Development Team.
This isn't a role you'll do alone. You'll be supported, resourced and empowered, while also being trusted to lead, influence and drive outcomes yourself.
