Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the Role
Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established highways and civil engineering contractor to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy commercial team supporting the financial and contractual management of multiple civils projects across the UK. The role offers strong long-term progression within a growing and supportive business.
You will be involved in day-to-day commercial administration, cost control, subcontractor management, and contract support across NEC4-based projects.
Key Responsibilities
Support the commercial team with all aspects of accounts, billing, and subcontractor management
Prepare financial information for applications, valuations, and payment notices
Process and evaluate subcontractor applications and invoices
Maintain and manage subcontract documentation and compliance records
Carry out data entry, cost tracking, and financial reporting support
Cross-check and analyse commercial data to ensure accuracy and consistency
Liaise with internal teams including operations, commercial, and finance departments
Communicate with subcontractors to resolve queries and escalate issues where required
Assist in drafting commercial documentation and supporting contract administration
Support pricing and measurement activities under guidance from senior team members
Ensure deadlines are met across multiple live projects
Requirements
Previous experience within a construction or civil engineering environment (preferred)
Understanding of NEC4 contracts (essential)
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to work methodically and manage workload effectively
Team player with a proactive and professional approach
