Location: Holiday Inn Doncaster A1 (M), Jct.36, High Road, Doncaster, DN4 9UX
Pay: Salary Circa £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
About the Role
At Holiday Inn, we believe in delivering True Hospitality for Good—making everyone feel welcome, cared for and recognised. We are looking for a dynamic, commercially focused and highly personable Hotel Sales Manager who can bring this promise to life while driving revenue growth for our hotel. This is not a role for someone who wants to spend every day behind a desk. We need a visible, energetic sales leader who enjoys getting out into Doncaster and the surrounding areas, meeting prospective clients, building relationships and winning new business. Personality is central to this role. You will be a natural relationship-builder who can confidently represent the hotel, inspire trust and turn conversations into lasting commercial partnerships. You will also lead, motivate and support the team, creating a positive, sales-focused culture in which people feel encouraged to perform at their best. The successful candidate will develop and maintain strong client relationships, implement effective sales strategies, promote the hotel’s services and facilities, and identify new opportunities across the local market. Strong communication, negotiation, leadership and organisational skills will be essential as you work to achieve sales targets and strengthen the hotel’s market position.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to maximise hotel revenue and occupancy.
- Lead, motivate and support the team, setting clear objectives and creating an energetic, results-driven sales culture.
- Be a visible and active presence in Doncaster and the surrounding areas, regularly visiting local businesses, prospective clients and commercial partners.
- Identify, target and secure new business opportunities, including corporate clients, travel agencies, event planners and tour operators.
- Proactively generate leads, arrange client appointments, conduct hotel show-rounds and convert opportunities into confirmed business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, encouraging repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Represent the hotel with confidence, personality and professionalism, bringing the Holiday Inn approach to True Hospitality into every client interaction.
- Conduct market research to identify local trends, competitor activity and changing customer preferences.
- Create and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
- Negotiate contracts, rates and packages in alignment with the hotel’s revenue goals.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure seamless event delivery, excellent guest experiences and high levels of client satisfaction.
- Monitor sales performance, analyse data and prepare reports for management.
- Attend networking events, industry meetings and local business events to represent the hotel and generate new opportunities.
- Encourage collaboration across the hotel, ensuring every department understands its role in delivering excellent service and supporting commercial success.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong commercial ability with warmth, confidence and genuine personality. You will enjoy meeting people, opening doors and building meaningful relationships, while also having the focus and determination needed to deliver results. You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in hotel sales, hospitality or a related industry.
- Previous experience of leading, motivating or developing a team.
- A strong understanding of sales techniques, negotiation and customer relationship management.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to generate business through face-to-face meetings and local networking.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- A natural ability to engage people and build trusted, lasting relationships.
- The ability to work independently, meet deadlines and achieve sales targets.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant sales tools.
- Knowledge of market trends and the competitive landscape within the hospitality industry.
- Flexibility to travel locally and attend networking or industry events as required.
- A passion for hospitality and a commitment to making guests, clients and colleagues feel welcome and valued.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Salary Circa £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Professional development opportunities.
- Employee discounts on hotel stays and services.
- The opportunity to lead sales activity for a well-known hotel in a strong local market.
- A role in which your ideas, personality and commercial drive can make a genuine impact.
