Job Title: Workshop Manager – PSV Fleet Maintenance
Location: Hailsham
Hours: 40 hours per week
On-Call Requirement: One week on-call on a rotating basis
Job Purpose
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the PSV (Public Service Vehicle) maintenance workshop, ensuring fleet availability, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the efficient management of engineering staff, resources, and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the PSV workshop and engineering team.
- Ensure all maintenance, inspections, repairs, and servicing are completed to the highest standards.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, operator licence requirements, DVSA standards, and company policies.
- Plan and schedule preventative maintenance activities to maximise fleet availability.
- Monitor workshop productivity, quality, and performance targets.
- Manage workshop budgets, parts inventory, and supplier relationships.
- Conduct staff supervision, performance reviews, training, and development.
- Investigate vehicle defects, breakdowns, and recurring maintenance issues.
- Ensure accurate maintenance records and documentation are maintained.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the workshop.
- Liaise with operations teams to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Participate in a rotating on-call rota, providing management support during out-of-hours incidents and breakdowns.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience managing a PSV, HGV, or commercial vehicle workshop.
- Strong knowledge of PSV maintenance standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and workshop best practices.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- CPC qualification or management qualification.
- PSV licence.
Pay: From £48,880.00 per year
