Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Transport Manager to assist the Senior transport manager in running an busy Transport Compliance Department. In this supporting role, you will be assisting the senior transport manager to ensure compliance in all areas of Health and Safety, Transport Management, and HR.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle maintenance - Schedule inspections, MOTs, LOLERs and book in defect repairs to keep every vehicle roadworthy and safe ensure paperwork and records are kept up to date and compliant
- Drivers hours - Ensure compliance with WTD and EU drivers hours regulations ensure records and sign offs are kept compliant
- Cost control - Monitor fuel usage, repairs and labour costs to keep operations efficient and affordable
- Recruitment - Hire drivers and logistics staff, managing onboarding, inductions and credentials
- Employee relations - Handle staff grievances, performance management, and disciplinary actions fairly
- HR policies - Update policies and handbooks
- Review and implement risk assessments and safe working practices ensuring plan do check act model is followed
- Incident investigations - Look into road accidents or workplace injuries to find the root cause and prevent future harm
- Training - Conduct tool box talks and ensure all employees are sufficiently trained
- Audits - Conduct internal audits as well as external audits by customers or external bodies - keep accreditations in date such as FORS, ISO, Safe contractor
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must have minimum 3 years experience working in logistics - fleet management or health and safety roles.
- Must have Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- Health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH advantageous
- Must have a deep understanding of employment law, drivers hours regulations, and occupational health standards
Pay: From £40,000.00 per year
