Job Overview
We are looking for 2-3 Steel Fixers to be based in OX13. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining steel frameworks and structures across various projects. This role requires a strong understanding of complex re bar work. This is a long term project with over 1 year left, with potential to move onto other local projects following this.
Responsibilities
- Erecting and installing steel frameworks, beams, and reinforcement in construction sites
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Welding components securely using various welding techniques
- Using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to cut, shape, and assemble steel structures
- Performing heavy lifting safely to manoeuvre materials into position
- Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and building codes
- Assisting with masonry work or carpentry tasks as required on site
- Conducting routine inspections of structures for stability and integrity
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency
Experience
- Proven experience as a Steel fixer on civils/water sites
- Must have Thames Water Passport
- Confident working on complex re bar works
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment
- Knowledge of roofing systems, masonry practices, and carpentry is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently over extended periods
- Experience with commercial driving or operating specialised vehicles is preferred but not mandatory
- Strong mechanical knowledge relevant to structural steel installation and maintenance
- Prior exposure to working on large-scale industrial or commercial projects is desirable
