Team Leader – Children's Residential Care
Full-Time | Shift Work including Sleep-Ins | £33,539 per annum (qualified candidate) + £60 per sleep-in
Are you an experienced residential care professional ready to take the next step into leadership? Our client operates a specialist Ofsted-regulated children's home in Buxton, providing residential care for up to three boys aged 9–17. The home supports children and young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs, including harmful sexual behaviours (HSB), trauma, attachment difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, mild to moderate learning disabilities, foetal alcohol syndrome, and developmental delay.
They're looking for a dedicated Team Leader to join their team and help lead a home that puts children and young people at the heart of everything it does. About the Role
As Team Leader, you'll take the lead on shift, supporting and guiding a team of residential care staff to deliver high-quality, child-centred care. You'll be a visible, hands-on leader — someone the team can rely on to keep things running smoothly and safely, while championing the wellbeing and development of every child in the home.
Salary
£33,539 per annum for a qualified candidate, plus £60 per sleep-in.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and coordinating staff during shifts, including effective handovers
- Acting as senior on duty, making decisions that keep children and staff safe
- Delegating tasks and supporting the wider team
- Providing meaningful, reflective supervisions and appraisals to care staff
- Supporting home management with audits and quality checks
- Delivering care in line with individual children's care plans
- Acting as key worker for designated children, including care plans and risk assessments
- Upholding safeguarding practices at all times and reporting any concerns
- Supporting staff induction, training and ongoing development
- Helping manage the home's budget, including evening and weekend spending
- Planning and joining in activities that give children fun, enriching experiences
- Transporting children safely to school, appointments and family visits
- Taking part in the sleep-in and on-call rota
What We're Looking For
- Experience working in residential childcare
- A solid understanding of safeguarding practices, including with children who display harmful sexual behaviours
- Some leadership or supervisory experience
- An understanding of complex needs such as trauma, attachment difficulties, autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, foetal alcohol syndrome and developmental delay
- Great communication skills and a calm, confident manner
- Flexibility to work shifts, sleep-ins, evenings and weekends
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Level 5 qualification, or working towards one
- Knowledge of Ofsted regulations
- A full UK driving licence
