CLIENT OVERVIEW
24-year-old young man with a learning disability
Job Purpose
To provide dedicated 1:1 support to a 24-year-old man, enabling him to live an independent, active, and
fulfilling life within his home and local community.
You will work closely with him to establish a comfortable daily routine while promoting his choices, autonomy,
and personal development.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Promoting Independence & Choice
Daily Routine & Choice: Work closely with him to establish a comfortable, structured daily routine while actively
promoting his personal choices and decision-making.
Skill Building: Actively encourage confidence, social interaction, and practical life skills both at home and while
out in the local community.
Active Participation: Encourage his involvement and active participation when planning and preparing fresh
meals and daily tasks.
Communication & Advocacy: Use active listening skills to ensure his preferences, choices, and voice remain
central to all daily activities.
2. Home Support & Personal Care
Morning Routine: Assist with waking up, washing, showering, and dressing to prepare comfortably for the day.
Personal Care: Provide sensitive, respectful, and dignified support with all aspects of daily personal hygiene.
Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare fresh, nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day, actively involving him
where possible.
Domestic Assistance: Encourage and assist with light household duties such as washing dishes, tidying, and
laundry.
Additional Support: Undertake such other duties consistent with the character of the role.

Outings & Events: Accompany and support him on daily local outings, as well as attending very occasional
evening activities or events.
Hobbies & Passions: Support and accompany him in actively pursuing his favorite interests, including:

Watching and participating in various sports activities

Attending cinema screenings and theatre performances
Candidate Profile & Requirements

Communication: Must possess excellent
communication skills and strong active
listening ability.
Patient & Empathetic: A calm, understanding
approach tailored to learning disabilities.
Reliable & Flexible: High punctuality,
consistency, and flexibility for occasional
evening shifts.
Enthusiastic & Active: Energetic and
engaging approach to match his passions for
sports, music, and arts.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Experience with learning
disabilities, care, or education settings is
preferred (not essential).
DBS Check: An Enhanced DBS check is
required prior to commencement.
Training: Basic First Aid & Epilepsy Training
required (can be provided for the successful
candidate).
Driving: UK Driving Licence is desirable but not essential (no vehicle required).
