Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Reptile Keeper to join our team caring for an extensive private collection of reptiles and amphibians.
This hands-on role involves all aspects of daily husbandry and welfare, ensuring the highest standards of care, cleanliness, and environmental control. You’ll be working with a wide variety of species, supporting a professional and well-maintained facility.
The position is open to both experienced keepers and trainee-level applicants who are passionate about reptiles, amphibians, and developing their animal care skills.
Responsibilities
- Daily feeding and care of a diverse range of reptiles and amphibians.
- Cleaning and maintenance of enclosures to high presentation and welfare standards.
- Recording environmental data including temperature, humidity, and UV levels.
- Conducting regular health and weight checks, with accurate record keeping.
- Following established feeding schedules and enrichment plans.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Reporting any health or behavioural concerns promptly to management.
- Administering medications in line with veterinary advice
Skills
- Experience in animal care (reptile or amphibian experience desirable).
- Excellent attention to detail and high animal welfare standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow detailed routines and work independently.
- Reliable, proactive, and hardworking.
- A genuine passion for reptiles and amphibians.
Schedule
This is a full time position 5 days per week, 10 hour shift with a 1 hour paid lunch break. Weekend work is required and runs on a rotational basis with 1 weekend in 4 off.
