Christian Phipps & Co is a growing independent accountancy practice with offices in Bangor and Anglesey. We provide accountancy, taxation and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, individuals and charities across North Wales and beyond.
As our practice continues to grow, we are looking to recruit an experienced accountant to join our friendly and supportive team.
We are seeking an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with at least three years' post-qualification experience, or an accountant who is qualified by experience with an equivalent level of expertise gained within an accountancy practice.
This is an excellent opportunity to become a key member of our team, managing your own portfolio of clients, working closely with the directors and building long-term client relationships. We offer a varied and rewarding role with genuine autonomy, where your ideas and contribution will be valued.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own portfolio of clients across a variety of industries.
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Preparing corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns.
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns.
- Supporting clients with Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, including onboarding and ongoing compliance.
- Advising clients on cloud accounting software, including Xero and QuickBooks.
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients and providing practical accounting and tax advice.
- Liaising with HMRC, Companies House and other third parties.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Identifying opportunities to improve client processes and deliver added value.
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification with at least three years' post-qualification experience, or equivalent experience gained within an accountancy practice.
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax, personal tax, VAT and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.
- Experience using cloud accounting software, including Xero and QuickBooks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive approach and excellent attention to detail.
- A genuine commitment to providing an excellent service to clients.
Experience using TaxCalc would be an advantage, although it is not essential.
