We currently have a vacancy for a Cook to join our in-house Catering Team. This position is based within our nursing home & will involve working an average of 30 hours per week over a three week rota.
Shift times are 07:00 - 14:00 & 10:30 - 18:00 weekdays, and 07:00 - 18:00 Weekends.
Main Purpose of role
Assist in the preparation and provision of meals, have the responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals and snacks following pre-set menus in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations to ensure meals are nutritious, appetising and meet dietary needs.
- Undertake simple stock control, reporting goods to be ordered to the relevant senior staff to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.
- Undertake the cleaning of the kitchen and surrounding areas and also of equipment to ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high level
- Ensure the security of the kitchen and storerooms is maintained at all times to provide a safe working environment.
- Attend training courses as required.
- Ensure your own personal hygiene and cleanliness is of the highest standard
- Comply with Health & Safety, Fire Regulations and other Croft Care Trust policies
Skills Required:
- Excellent organisational skills to ensure the smooth running of a kitchen
- In-depth knowledge of all the sections in a kitchen to efficiently manage operations
- Previous experience within a similar catering position is desirable
- High standards of personal and food hygiene
- Food Hygiene Certificate
- Customer focused attitude, with an approachable, friendly manner
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Qualifications:
- The right to work in the UK
- Level 2 Food Safety Award
- Experience of kitchen equipment
- Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives
