Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! Reporting to the Layout Engineering Manager, the Layout Integration Engineer will be responsible for development and delivery of integrated plant layouts across Fusion and Modular Nuclear programmes, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) and Fusion projects.
The role combines plant layout engineering, piping layout, multidisciplinary integration, systems engineering awareness and CAD/BIM capability. The successful candidate will work closely with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural, Architecture, HVAC, Fire, Human Factors and Systems Engineering disciplines to develop safe, constructable, operable and maintainable plant arrangements.
The Layout Integration Engineer will take ownership of assigned systems, buildings or plant areas and drive layout development from concept through detailed design.
Key Responsibilities
- Own layout development for assigned systems, buildings or plant areas.
- Develop integrated equipment, piping, cable tray, access and maintenance layouts.
- Interpret and apply PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, line lists, requirements and engineering constraints.
- Capture and manage design assumptions, constraints and interfaces.
- Develop layouts within 3D CAD/BIM environments.
- Lead piping routing studies and plant integration activities within assigned scope areas.
- Act as the primary layout focal point for assigned work packages.
- Coordinate design activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Lead multidisciplinary workshops, model reviews and layout reviews.
- Identify clashes, interfaces and design conflicts and drive their resolution.
- Ensure layout solutions satisfy system, operational, safety, construction and maintenance requirements.
- Produce general arrangements, layout studies and engineering deliverables.
- Author technical reports, optioneering studies, design philosophies and engineering recommendations.
- Present technical solutions and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Support modularisation, construction and maintainability assessments.
- Support requirements management and interface management activities.
