Web Developer who actually gets things done.
We're not looking for someone who waits to be told what to do. We want a technically capable, problem-solving, figure-it-out type who thrives in the varied, fast-moving world of a growing agency.
What we're looking for
- We care more about how you think more than which specific platforms you've used. That said, you'll be hitting the ground running, so experience matters.
- Solid experience building and editing websites, Shopify and WordPress in particular
- Comfortable with custom code (HTML, CSS, JS) you don't need to be a software engineer, but you need to be able to get into a theme or template and bend it to your will
- Experience setting up analytics and tracking: GA4, GTM, Meta pixel, conversion events
- A genuine affinity for technology, you follow what's new, you experiment, you enjoy figuring things out
- An eye for design, you notice when something looks off and you know what to do about it
- Clear communication, you can tell a client or a colleague what's happening, what you need, and when it'll be done
- Agency experience is a plus, but not essential what matters is that you're used to moving fast and handling multiple things at once
- Technical SEO (page speeds etc) - again, you don’t need to be an expert in everything, but you need to know how to set up a website for success, it can’t just have a pretty design
Everything above is important to us, but honestly, your personality, attitude and the way you approach your work matter way more…
You’re going to need to be comfortable switching between clients multiple times a day, because your day could look something like:
1. Design and build a landing page for Client A
2. Add a banner on Client B’s homepage
3. Make sure Client C’s Google Ad conversion goals are working
4. And so on…
If this sounds like something you can handle day-in, day-out then you might be the perfect fit for us.
Which leads us nicely onto the fun bits:
The benefits
- £40k Base salary
- 40 days paid holiday PLUS bank holidays (yes, you read that right!)
- Flexible working [One mandatory day in Cambridge on Thursdays]
- Salary growth plan
- Thursday drinks [Company-paid drinks every Thursday after the office day. It's a good crowd.]
- 5% referral commission [Ongoing, not one-off. If you bring a client to us, you earn on them for as long as they stay.]
- AI-first culture [We're building toward a 4-day week using automation. You'll be central to that.]
The culture, honestly
Our CEO started this agency because he wanted to create a company that people actually want to work for…
And he’s doing a pretty good job of it so far.
You’ve already seen the 40 days paid holiday, the free drinks on a Thursday, the 5% referral commission - these aren’t just hooks to get you to join us:
These are things we’re already enjoying for ourselves, and with us looking for a new team member, we want you to enjoy them too.
How to apply
We want to get to know you, so:
Send us a short email, not a cover letter template or an AI slop-fest… but an actual email, telling us who you are, what you've built, and why this sounds like your kind of job.
Include links to anything relevant: sites you've built, projects you're proud of, your GitHub if you have one.
All the best,
The CamCom Team
P.S. Please put “Grey Wattle Bottle” at the top of your email, so we know you’ve read the full job description.
