Construction Estimator
We’re currently recruiting for an Estimator / Senior Estimator to join a friendly, well-established family-run construction business.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for more than just another estimating position. As this is a brand-new role, you’ll have the opportunity to make it your own, help shape and improve existing processes, and play an important role in the continued growth of the business.
We’re open to hearing from experienced Estimators, as well as candidates with a construction background who have developed experience in estimating and are looking to take the next step in their career.
The Role
Working closely with the wider commercial and operations teams, you’ll be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate tenders across a range of commercial and domestic construction projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing tender documents, specifications, drawings and project requirements.
- Preparing accurate take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
- Issuing enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and reviewing quotations.
- Obtaining competitive prices and ensuring all costs are accurately captured.
- Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
- Attending site visits where required to understand project requirements and assess potential risks.
- Preparing high-quality tender submissions and responding to client queries.
- Working collaboratively with design, commercial and operations teams throughout the tender process.
- Helping to develop and improve estimating systems and processes.
- Supporting the continued growth and development of the business.
About You
We’re looking for an organised, motivated and commercially aware individual who enjoys working collaboratively and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience within the construction industry.
- Demonstrable estimating experience across general construction projects.
- Good knowledge of construction methods, materials and project costs.
- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project profitability.
- Experience obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- A positive, proactive approach to your work.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and confidence working in an office-based environment.
