An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join an expanding Radiology service in Scotland.
The successful candidate will strengthen an established team delivering a comprehensive Interventional Radiology service across vascular and non-vascular practice. The department performs the full spectrum of interventional procedures and continues to invest heavily in modern facilities, service expansion and clinical innovation.
This role supports a wide range of medical and surgical specialities while offering opportunities to develop specialist interests, participate in research, teach future radiologists and contribute to the strategic development of Interventional Radiology services.
- Deliver consultant-led vascular and non-vascular Interventional Radiology services.
- Perform a broad range of image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Participate in a 1:5 emergency Interventional Radiology on-call rota.
- Work closely with vascular surgery and other clinical specialities to deliver integrated patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical decision making.
- Support service planning, strategic development and innovation within Interventional Radiology.
- Supervise and teach radiology trainees, medical students and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and research activity.
- Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD), appraisal and revalidation requirements.
The department offers:
- A dedicated team of four Interventional Radiology Consultants delivering comprehensive vascular and non-vascular services.
- Modern Interventional Radiology suites equipped with advanced angiography systems.
- Strong collaboration with vascular surgery, renal, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, urology, oncology and gynaecology services.

- Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise.
- Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Evidence of Higher Specialist Training leading to CCT in Clinical Radiology (or within six months of completion).
- CESR or equivalent specialist registration where applicable.
- Additional expertise in body CT/MRI.
- Experience supporting specialist Interventional Radiology service development.
- Extensive experience in Vascular and Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology.
- Experience performing vascular CT and MRI imaging.
- Audit and research experience.
- Excellent multidisciplinary team working skills.
- Patient-focused approach with flexibility to meet service needs.
- Understanding of NHS management and service development.
- Ability to work independently as a Consultant Radiologist.
- Experience in postgraduate teaching.
- Additional expertise in body CT and MRI reporting.
- Proven leadership in developing new clinical services.
