About the Role
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is looking to recruit a Residential Care Officer to join our friendly, supportive and dedicated residential care team.

As a Residential Care Officer, youll provide high-quality care and support to vulnerable children and young people who are unable to live with their families. Youll help create a safe, nurturing home environment where young people feel valued, listened to and supported. Some of the children you work with may have behavioural or emotional difficulties, as well as other additional needs.

Previous experience within a Childrens Residential Home is beneficial but not essential. We recognise the value of transferable skills, life experience and a genuine passion for supporting young people.

If you do not already hold the required qualification, well support you to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare through a structured training programme, providing guidance and support every step of the way.

What youll need
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A recognised Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or a willingness to achieve this within 18 months of appointment
- Experience of working with children and young people
- A positive attitude and the ability to build supportive relationships
- Flexibility to work across a 7-day rota, including weekends, sleep-ins and occasional waking night shifts
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- A full UK driving licence
