Our client is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Canteen Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our canteen, providing excellent service while maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage their time effectively and contribute positively to the culinary environment.
Responsibilities
· Assist in the preparation and serving of food and beverages in accordance with health and safety regulations.
· Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitised.
· Engage with customers, providing information about menu items and upselling where appropriate.
· Handle cash transactions accurately, applying basic maths skills for billing purposes.
· Support kitchen staff in food preparation tasks as needed, demonstrating a willingness to help where required.
· Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management to ensure adequate supplies are available.
· Adhere to food safety standards at all times, reporting any issues or concerns to management promptly.
Skills
· Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Previous experience in a restaurant or similar setting is advantageous but not essential.
· Knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is preferred.
· Excellent communication skills with a friendly approach.
· Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated when required.
